About the Playwright...

Donna Hoke

American playwright Donna Hoke's work has been seen in 38 US states and on five continents. Previously, she's had short works produced in Crawley and Manchester, and is thrilled to be making her London debut.

She serves as Western New York regional representative for the Dramatists Guild and is an ensemble playwright in residence at Road Less Traveled Productions, where her first play, THE COUPLE NEXT DOOR (Princess Grace semi-finalist, currently in its third year in rep in Romania), broke box office records when it premiered in 2010. Other full-length plays include SEEDS (Artie award for Outstanding New Play), FLOWERS IN THE DESERT (featured this past fall at Actors Repertory Theatre Luxembourg), SAFE (winner of the Todd McNerney National Playwriting, Naatak National Playwriting, and Great Gay Play and Musical Contests), and BRILLIANT WORKS OF ART (winner, HRC Showcase and Firehouse Festival of New American Plays, Woodward/Newman and nuVoices finalist).

She's also authored more than two dozen short plays, is a New York Times-published crossword puzzle constructor; author of Neko and the Twiggets, a children's book; and founder/co-curator of BUA Takes 10: GLBT Short Stories. For three consecutive years, she was named Buffalo's Best Writer by newsweekly Artvoice—the only woman to ever receive the designation.
